Seiland Arctic Interior – Island Wilderness Without Trails

Seiland island (70.3012°N, 23.3156°E) rises from the Arctic Ocean as a rumpled blanket of peaks and valleys, topped by two glaciers and dotted with hundreds of lakes. No marked trails exist in the interior—only reindeer paths and the occasional cairn left by previous adventurers. The terrain is a mix of rocky ridges, boggy valley floors, and expansive tundra. Arctic foxes den here, and the island hosts Norway's northernmost glacier. The sense of being completely on your own is absolute.

Multi-day traverses cross the island between boat pickup points, with camping on lake shores or protected spots behind ridges.
