By accessing or using Hidden Norway, you accept and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or the installable Hidden Norway app.
Hidden Norway is a platform for discovering outdoor adventures, fishing spots, hidden accommodations, and a community feed where travellers can share trips, buddy up for hikes, and message each other. Some features (such as posting content, sending messages, and creating a profile) require you to sign up for a free account. The installable Progressive Web App and all community features are free to use.
You agree to use Hidden Norway responsibly, in line with applicable laws, and to keep the community welcoming for other travellers. The following behaviours are strictly prohibited and may result in content removal, account suspension, or account termination:
You retain ownership of anything you post — text, photos, videos, itineraries, comments, and messages. By posting to Hidden Norway you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, translate, and distribute that content on our site and app for as long as your account is active. You are responsible for having the right to share anything you upload (including copyright, model releases, and location permissions). We may remove content that violates these terms without notice.
We use automated filters, rate limits, and community reports to keep the feed safe. Posts flagged by multiple users are automatically hidden pending review. Moderators may hide, delete, or restore any content, and may suspend accounts for repeat violations. You can report any post, comment, or message using the flag icon, and you can block any user from your profile menu — blocking hides all of their content and prevents them from messaging you.
The community feed lets travellers arrange to meet in person for hikes, trips, or events. Hidden Norway does not verify the identity, background, or intentions of any user. If you choose to meet someone from the feed you do so entirely at your own risk. We strongly recommend: meeting in public places first, telling a friend or family member your plans, exchanging identification only when you are comfortable, and never travelling with someone whose behaviour makes you uneasy. Hidden Norway is not responsible for anything that happens during meet-ups arranged through our platform.
Norwegian nature is beautiful and dangerous. Trail conditions, weather, and daylight change rapidly. Information on Hidden Norway (including hikes, GPS coordinates, difficulty ratings, and user posts) is provided for planning purposes only and is not a substitute for local expertise, up-to-date weather forecasts, or your own judgement. You are solely responsible for your safety and preparation. If in doubt, hire a certified local guide.
If you enable browser or push notifications, we may send you alerts about new messages and community activity. You can turn notifications off at any time from your browser settings or your profile page.
Hidden Norway, its owners, and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, the community feed, meet-ups arranged through the feed, or the installable app. Outdoor and travel activities carry inherent risks, and you participate entirely at your own risk.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violations of these terms or for behaviour we consider harmful to the community. You may delete your account at any time from your profile page — deleting your account removes your posts, comments, messages, and profile data from the live site (backup copies may persist for up to 30 days).
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be flagged on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
